Associate Instructor, Surgical Technology Dickson

The Tennessee College of Applied Technology - Dickson is accepting applications for the full-time position of Associate Instructor in the new Surgical Technology program at the Dickson Campus. This is a grant-funded position.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Must hold a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification issued by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or must hold a  Tech in Surgery Certification (TS-C) issued by by National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT). Maintaining certification is required.
• Technical diploma in a related field, Associate degree in a related field preferred. A comparable combination of related education and related experience may be considered.  
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a Surgical Technologist or three (3) years as a Registered Nurse in a comparable operating room role within the last five (5) years.
• Prior teaching or evidence of ability to teach students a plus.

SKILLS

• Must possess the organizational and communication skills necessary to be an effective teacher and to interact with high school and adult students.

• Must show evidence of good character, mature attitude and stable personality.
• Must commit to remain current in the Surgical Technology field and establish/maintain program accreditation(s).
• Must be a self-starter and have the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, the general public and business/industry representatives.
• Computer skills and ability to adapt quickly to new technology required.
• Must be willing and able to perform administrative duties in a timely manner.

GENERAL DUTIES:  The Surgical Technology Associate Instructor is responsible for on-campus teaching of theory and skills to prepare students to become surgical technologists.  The Associate Instructor will monitor, grade, evaluate and advise students on individual progress; maintain records and complete reports in a timely manner; assist in recruitment of new students and placement of graduates; participate in the development of the program; maintain good public relations with business and industry; develop and maintain agreements with clinical partners; maintain an active advisory committee, and other duties as assigned. This position reports to the Director of Health Career Programs. Work hours are Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Class hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Anticipated start date for the position is May 1. This is not a remote work position. This position is grant-funded.

SALARY:  $50,894-$61,074 annually ($26.10-$31.32 per hour). Commensurate with Tennessee Colleges of Applied Technology salary guidelines and directly related experience.
